About Ramlila

An ABP News initiative – MahaRamlila – is a special property covering the various facets of the hugely popular ‘Ramlila’ across India.

Ramlila, the enactment of the great Hindu epic – Ramayana, covers the journey of Lord Ram’s life. Every occurrence of his life is covered and enacted over a period of 10 days. Encapsulating the life, principles and values of Lord Ram, it reflects the Hindu belief. The last day of Ramlila or Dussehra (Vijay Dashmi), witnesses the Ravan Dahan by the hands of Lord Ram. Along with Ravan, the effigies of Meghnad and Kumbhkarn are also burnt, which symbolises the triumph of Good over Evil.

There are various Ramlilas that take place across the nation with lakhs and lakhs of people visiting these Ramlilas over the period of these 10 days. With an endeavour to show you the best of Ramlilas, ABP News special programming, ‘MahaRamlila’, would showcase the grandeur of various Ramlilas for all the 10 days.
